Over the Wall: Page 84

And here we are.

It has been quite a ride writing this comic. It’s certainly the most ambitious thing I’ve finished; I remember being excited when I finally got to page 24, thinking that was a big milestone. Now here we are, 60 pages later, and the comic is done.

Well, not entirely. This comic–the one online–isn’t really the finished version.

A while back, Tom Kaczynski (a teacher of mine when I was at MCAD, the guy in charge of Uncivilized Books, and an excellent comic artist in his own right) approached me about publishing the comic. Over the next few months we edited and reworked the comic, and the Over the Wall that will be coming out sometime in June-July is quite a bit different from the Over the Wall that’s online. It’s 11 pages longer, for one, and much of the first half has been completely redrawn, along with tons of other minor revisions. There are still a few things left to do with the comic, but soon–very soon–you’ll be able to hold Over the Wall in your hands and flip through real, actual, paper pages.

It will be awesome.

I’ll be posting more about the book as we get closer to publish date (as well as random art and doodles and any news on the next installment of Over the Wall) so keep track of things with the RSS Feed, or follow my Tumblr account (where I also post sketches and other art regularly).

Thanks for reading!

Aw! I demand a sequel! Did her brother ever manage to fix his memories and state of being? Did Anya and her new found demon friend ever meet again!? What about the giant Demon who declares the walls won’t hold forever!? Nooooo!

Ahh, I really enjoyed the story though. Thank you for sharing!

Looking forward to having a work of yours on my shelf :D Any place you’d recommend starting with Kaczynski’s works?

Beta Testing the Apocalypse, his latest book, is pretty great and is a collection of a lot of stuff he’s done. You can pick it up from Fantagraphics. Lots of strange philosophical stories and surreal situations; it’s pretty unique (at least with what I’ve read).
